The 150 Most Useful and Fun Web Sites Out There

If you love the Web like I do, you'll want to check out Time.com's 50 Coolest Web sites of 2006, and Guardian Unlimited's new 100 Most Useful Sites list. (Both of these links are below, PLUS 4 really good ones.

Some of the Web sites were discovered by friend or colleague recommendations, but others were found only after countless hours of surfing the Web.

Categories range from Entertainment, Arts and Media to Blogs to Time Wasters, so there's really something for everyone on these lists.

Of course, everyone has their own favorite sites (like Google.com and Pandora.com, two of my personal favorites), and not every site could make the list, but here are several sites that represent the "cream of the crop" (you'll need to click on the links below to view the entire list):

OneLook.com: A reference site that indexes more than 7.5 million words in 931 dictionaries. It also works backward, allowing you to look up a meaning and find the correct word.
TempInbox.com/English: An e-mail service that provides free, temporary, "disposable" e-mail accounts with no registration.
Number-Logic.com: All kinds of puzzles to challenge your mind. You can work independently or challenge another registered user, and choose the difficulty level you want.
Farecast.com: An "airfare predication engine" that calculates whether the lowest price on plane tickets will rise or fall in the next week, so you can decide when's the best time to buy. Although the site currently only works for flights out of Seattle or Boston , all major U.S. cities are supposed to be covered by the end of 2007.
